OUR CANDIDATES
Why Croatian & Slovenian students?
01.
University students
Summer Work Travel participants are full-time university students from Croatia and Slovenia.
02.
English preparation
Every DOMAGO student completes English preparation with a qualified English-language teacher. The course includes job interview practice, workplace communication and real-life situations they may encounter in the United States.
03.
Agency vetted
Candidates are screened for motivation, English, expectations and general suitability before being presented to employers.
Hospitality-ready
Many candidates already have experience in hospitality, restaurants, tourism, retail or other fast-paced seasonal environments.
Flexible recruitment
We can recruit around your actual requirements: positions, experience, English level, availability, team size and other relevant hiring criteria.
Ready to work
Our students understand that this is a real seasonal work experience and many are happy to work additional hours and overtime when available.
Preferred employer profile: businesses able to hire 5 or more students are especially welcome, although smaller employers are also considered.
PROGRAM PARTNERS
Access to leading U.S. J-1 sponsors
DOMAGO acts as an international recruitment and J-1 program brokerage partner. We are not the U.S. visa sponsor ourselves — we work with leading U.S. Department of State designated sponsors and coordinate the process between candidates, employers and the selected sponsor.
FEATURED SPONSOR
Intrax
DOMAGO works closely with Intrax, one of the world’s largest and most established J-1 cultural exchange sponsors.
Intrax has decades of international cultural exchange experience and has supported more than 100,000 Summer Work Travel participants.
The right sponsor for the right employer
We also cooperate with several other excellent designated U.S. sponsors.
The most suitable sponsor can depend on your business profile, positions, location, hiring volume, dates, housing arrangements, program category and other requirements.
Our role is to understand your staffing needs and coordinate the opportunity with a strong sponsor whose program and approval process fit the placement.
Important: Final employer, job and participant approval always remains with the designated U.S. sponsor. DOMAGO cannot guarantee sponsor approval.
SUMMER WORK TRAVEL

- Tourism and recreation businesses
- Souvenir shops and seasonal retail
- Ice cream shops and food service
- Other seasonal tourism-based businesses

EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS
What your business needs
Business documentation
- Valid business license
- Valid Workers’ Compensation policy
- Legitimate operating U.S. business
- Appropriate seasonal positions
Sponsor vetting
Your business will complete the required sponsor review and usually a short interview or vetting process with a representative of the designated sponsor.
DOMAGO helps coordinate the process, but the designated sponsor makes the final approval decision.
Appropriate jobs
Positions should be seasonal, appropriate for the Summer Work Travel program and provide a genuine opportunity for interaction with Americans.
Construction, landscaping and certain labor-intensive or otherwise prohibited jobs are not eligible.
HOUSING
Good housing makes a great job offer
Employers should provide housing or actively assist students in arranging affordable accommodation.
- Clean, safe and livable conditions
- Bathroom access
- Wi-Fi
- Kitchen or kitchenette access
- Preferably no more than 4 students per bedroom
- Same-gender bedroom arrangements
- Reasonable transportation or walking access to work
RECOMMENDED
$0–$250 per week
We generally recommend keeping participant housing within approximately $0–$250 per student per week whenever possible.
Affordable or free housing can significantly increase candidate interest in your offer and makes recruitment much easier.

100%
DOMAGO participant visa approval rate for the 2026 Summer Work Travel season.
Visa issuance is always determined by the U.S. government. Neither DOMAGO nor a designated sponsor can guarantee that an individual visa will be approved.
HEALTH & SUPPORT
Students arrive prepared and insured
Health insurance
Participants receive health insurance coverage arranged through their designated program sponsor and receive the information needed to access medical care when necessary.
Employers are not responsible for administering the participant’s J-1 health insurance.
Social Security
After arrival, employers are expected to assist participants or direct them appropriately in applying for their Social Security Number.
DOMAGO support
Our team stays available for communication throughout the program. Open communication between the employer, participant, DOMAGO and sponsor is essential.
CULTURAL EXCHANGE
More than seasonal staffing
Summer Work Travel is a cultural exchange program. Participants come to work, improve their English, learn about American culture and build relationships with Americans.
Small efforts from the employer can make a major difference to the participant experience.
- Include students in team dinners or gatherings
- Encourage interaction with American employees
- Recommend local attractions and activities
- Help students understand the local community
- Maintain open communication throughout the season
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM
Need international talent outside the summer season?
DOMAGO also recruits eligible candidates for J-1 Intern and Trainee programs throughout the entire year.
01.
J-1 Intern
For eligible university students and recent graduates seeking structured professional experience related to their academic field.
02.
J-1 Trainee
For eligible graduates and professionals with relevant experience who want to develop their skills through a structured U.S. training program.
03.
Available year-round
Unlike Summer Work Travel, Intern and Trainee opportunities are not limited to the summer season. Employers can contact DOMAGO at any time of the year.
Intern and Trainee are structured cultural exchange and professional training programs, not ordinary employment programs. The host company, candidate and training plan must meet sponsor requirements.

PARTNERSHIP
Communication matters
Our participants often prepare for their U.S. summer many months in advance. They organize university schedules, visa appointments, flights and personal commitments around their confirmed placement.
If your staffing needs change and you are unable to employ all selected students, we kindly but firmly ask that you inform DOMAGO as early as possible.
Early notice gives us an opportunity to find an alternative placement and protects the student’s investment, expectations and experience.
A long-term relationship
Our goal is not simply to fill one summer vacancy.
We want to build reliable, recurring employer relationships where students know what to expect and employers receive candidates who fit their business.
